Mahitahi and Emerge Aotearoa have a shared mission. Join Kia Tupu Whakaritorito as we open the doors of a brand-new service situated within Auckland Prison, Pāremoremo! Our mission is to deliver an innovative mātauranga Māori drug and alcohol program, utilizing mana and wairua-enhancing, strengths-based Te Ao Māori practices and the principles of Kia Tupu Whakaritorito.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

As an experienced Clinician at Kia Tupu Whakaritorito, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals in custodial settings who are experiencing substance-related harms. Utilizing mana and wairua-enhancing, strengths-based Te Ao Māori practices, you will work to tūngia te ururua—remove old habits—and cultivate new strategies and skills for sustainable recovery.

Supported by the Clinical Team Leader, you'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enrich programs grounded in kawa and tikanga. Deliver psycho-educational groups and provide one-to-one mātauranga Māori-led therapeutic interventions.

Ngā Korero Mōu | About you

We're seeking a seasoned clinician with:

  • Current full Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
  • DAPAANZ registration, or
  • Registration with a Professional Body covered by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003 or the Social Worker Registration Act 2003.
  • Expertise and interest in Tikanga Māori and Pacific cultural norms
  • Experience in custodial settings preferred
  • Lived experience alongside clinical skills and expertise will be seen as living proof that change is achievable.
  • Ability to work in values-led, mana and wairua-enhancing ways, demonstrated through language, attitudes, and behaviours
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications
  • Full NZ driver's license
  • Willingness to undergo criminal conviction and reference checks for approval to work in Auckland Prison
