Community Online Substance use, intoxication and withdrawal management: 11, 14, 18 October 2024

Workshops are designed for people who have previous experience and training working in addiction services. For people without previous experience or training, it is recommended that Blueprint for Learning, Addiction 101 Workshop be completed before attending a workshop.

This consists of three online sessions for 2 hours each. This is a workshop intended for community based workers.

Dates:

Friday 11 October, 10am to 12:30pm

Monday 14 October, 10am to 12pm

Friday 18 October, 10am to 12pm

The workshops support kaimahi to:

  • recognise and respond to someone who is intoxicated
  • engage with people who use substances
  • support and respond to someone contemplating or entering withdrawal
  • understand the function of substance use and the impact of stigma on help seeking

The workshops will also explore:

  • practical strategies to assess and manage behavioural disturbance due to intoxication and withdrawal
  • how to refer to specialist addiction services and other community supports
  • how to provide harm reduction advice for people who continue to use substances

Workshops are at no cost to attendees and attract CPD dapaanz points
